I'm a little late to the thanksgiving gratitude party, but I brought spirits: when I was a tiny girl, my grandfather had a license plate on the front of his Dodge Intrepid that read, "Let me tell you about my grandkids." And it was true. I thank the deep & strong love & welcome I've always known. I thank the opportunities I've had to belong, in the deep greens & blues from Pennsylvania to Minneapolis to Kauai, in the arms of snow & firelight & sea. I thank my new nephew, whom we are all over the moon about. I thank the mysteries that continue to vine & flower over my life. I thank my immense longing: even & especially when I don't know where she's leading me, I thank the courage to follow her. I thank persimmons, the song of feathers winging, the scent of pine. I thank you, for your own acts of bravery, love, poetry, and rebellion. I thank.
