Here is a threshold you might know: It’s the moment when your voice rises up in you like a wave, when all your listening to self and others and the earth surges through you and pulses at the doors of your womb and heart.
It’s the inner impulse to speak of feelings, experiences, parts of yourself that are yet unspoken, or to ask the questions that no one else has yet dared to ask. And thus, vulnerable. And thus, gleaming with riches that can only be shared through your voice.
And your heart races. You don't know if your voice will carry over the precipice between your inner and outer worlds. And you feel an ancient fear that cannot be explained.
And yet—and because—you speak.
You speak without testing the waters. You speak without counting the cost. You speak without tempering your words to make others comfortable. You speak without thought, or rather thinking as a whole-soulful-body thinks :: in sensation, color, waves of glory, tendriling recognition, raw emotion, oracular water flowing.
This is the threshold where I have many times walked :: and come through washed in the beauty of the creative feminine. I have learned to pause on the precipice and feel all the textures: of love, of longing, of terror, of wild beauty jostling to be born.
As a girl, I was gifted with the spaciousness & safety to imagine and play: to bathe in the dappled green canopy of trees, to know the world as a garden of pleasure & delight. I absorbed messages from culture and religion that would reward me for being silent, for being sweet and deferential, but within my family I was encouraged to question authority, to seek justice, to honor beauty, and given freedom to be weird.
The word "weird" comes from the Old English "wyrd," whose meaning encompasses a power to turn or bend fate and also uncanny, supernatural. At its very root, this word simply means, that which comes. A slow rising in the core of me that has, in waves, come calling for me, beckoned me in to my creative center.
My coming into being has felt this way—some deep & sacred weirdness leading the way... Into learning, into love, sometimes into peril, into mysteries of death and rebirth.
The creative force has brought me to the edge again and again.
And through spiraling time, through curiosity, I've been carried into my body, into her pleasure, her knowings, her courage. And carried into intimate relationship with others, able to witness their feelings and beauty.
I am: here to inspire your creative prowess, your vibrant embodiment at the threshold of expression.
